Detroit Fire Dept. - Box Alarm 17572 Dequindre (2 Dwellings) 7/18/09 : While still at the Box on W Jefferson & S Crawford we heard Engine 44 on the radio of one of the rigs reporting that they were stretching on a dwelling fully involved. Due to the fact that we missed initial dispatch we were unaware of the address of their fire, so we resorted to start heading towards 44's first due ares. While enroute Northbound on the Chrysler Freeway we caught a large column of smoke in the sky to the east. Taking the East 7 Mile exit wetraveled southeast & eventually by luck of the draw & a little knowledge of the city, we located the job on the 17000 block of Dequindre between Minnesota & Madeira. Chief 8 had two dwellings going throughtout with the "C" side exposure of the building of origin being vacant. Engine 35 dumped their monitor while Truck 18 flowed from their Ladder Pipe. Companies operated solely with an exterior attack bringing both fires under control within 90 minutes. This at the time was the 5th or 6th fire for the 8th Battalion. Busy night for the boys up North.

Detroit Fire Dept. - Box Alarm W Jefferson & S Crawford 7/18/09 : Shortly after clearing up from the job on Riverdale in the 8th Battalion, Central Office shipped out the Box for a dwelling at W Jefferson & Crawford in the Cities 7th Battalion. Upon arrival the first due company reported they were strecthing on a dwelling & passing command to the next arriving company. The Truck than reported fire throughtout a 2.5 story occupied dwelling, all companies would be going to work. Chief 7 was due on the box after just going in service from a smaller dwelling fire in the Northeastern end of his district. Due to the amount of fire an extra Engine was requested for RIT by Command. Fire heavily consumed the "C" Side of the house on all floors. Rather than making an exterior attack, Members stretched two lines to floors 1 & 2 making one hell of a stop pusing it out the rear & darkening down the bullk of the fire. Units remained on scene for about 2 hours hitting hotspots & overhauling. Once again an excellent job by the Brothers in Detroit.

Detroit Fire Dept. - Box Alarm 15717 Riverdale 7/18/09 : Around 0100 hours Detroit Fire Dept's Central Office sent out the box for the reported dwelling at 15717 Riverdale at Midland in the cities 8th Battalion. Upon arrival the first due Engine reported they would be stretching, Chief 8 arrived shortly after reporting two 1.5 sty dwellings involved. Companies went to work stretching lines & Truck 26 setup their Ladder Pipe for operation. Shortly after arrival fire was through the roof on the original fire building & companies had to force entry to the B side exposure after the fire communicated to it. Companies worked for about an hour to bring this incident under control & stayed on scene for an extended period after due to the massive amount of overhaul. It was deemed suspicious due to the heavy amount of fire upon arrival.

Detroit Fire Dept. - Box Alarm 3749 Moore Pl. 7/17/09 : Around 0215 hours Detroit Fire Central Dispacth sent out the box for a dwelling fire at 3749 Moore Pl between Roosevelt & Vinewood. Squad 4 pulled up first due being a couple blocks away from quarters reporting the first engine would be stretching on a vacant dwelling. Units as usual worked quickly advancing lines to the second floor dousing the flames & opening up the ceilings knocking down the hotspots in the cockloft. Chief 5 placed the fire under control with 25 minutes & units went back into service after a short rehab.

Detroit Fire Dept. - Box Alarm 6901 St. John 7/16/09 : Around 0500 hours Central Office dispatched Engines 10, 34, 33, Ladder 22, Squad 4 & Chief 7 for the report of a dwelling fire at 6901 St. John between Martin & Apple. Upon arrival Ladder 22 reported that the first engine would be stretching for fire visible on the 2nd floor, A side of a 2.5 story vacant dwelling. Companies made quick work darkening down the fire & opening up the 2nd & 3rd floors extinguishing the remaining pokcets of fire. The incident was brought under control within 20 minutes.
